What To Bring To You First Visit
  • Insurance Cards (mandatory) with co-pay due at the time of service
  • Previous X-ray or MRI results; including image disc
  • Medical records from previous Orthopaedic physician and/or last notes from your Primary Care physician
  • Current medications; including dosages, quantity, prescribing physician, last date received
  • Complete patient forms
 
Pre-Surgical Preparation
  • The doctor may have ordered blood tests or x-rays before your surgery or procedure. A member of our staff will make all necessary arrangements for hospital pre-registration within 1 week prior to your surgery. You will be given a pre-operative appointment date and time when your surgery is scheduled.

  • During this time, you will talk with a Surgical Coordinator. When coming for your pre-operative appointment, please bring your medications or an updated list of medications and drug allergies. Come prepared to provide additional medical information. You will also receive further.

  • Inform the Surgical Coordinator of recent labs, x-rays, or EKGs, or cardiologist office visits you've had recently. Please bring a copy of testing results and office notes with you to your pre-operative appointment. This will prevent unnecessary duplication, coast, and discomfort to you.

  • The final step will be to talk with a specialists in Pre-admission Testing and Anesthesia, if required. Feel free to ask questions at this time. Inform them of any previous reactions to anesthesia during prior procedures you have had.
 
Post-Operative Information
  • Before you leave the hospital, you will be given discharge guidelines which may include diet, medication, work, and other activity restrictions.

  • You will be given a follow up appointment in our office so that Dr. Schuett may check the healing of your incision(s) and/or to remove sutures.

  • Once you return home, It is your responsibility to keep any wound dressings clean and intact until your first post-operative appointment. If bandage needs changing or it you have bleeding through bandage, contact our office to schedule an appointment for bandage change.

  • If you experience any unusual symptoms, notify our office immediately at 910-642-7737 during business hours. If it is after hours and an emergency, please go to the nearest emergency room. Or, we can be reached at 910-642-8011 (ext. 1799).
